WHAT’s tungsten carbide and What’s its function ?
Tungsten is Swedish for «heavy stone». Tungsten carbide (chemical symbol : WC) is a chemical compound (specially, a carbide) containing equal parts of tungsten and carbon atoms.
Tungsten carbide is normally prepared by reaction of tungsten metal and carbon at 1400-2000°C.
Tungsten carbide is approximately twice as strong as steel, and is double the density of steel - nearly midway between that of lead and gold. It is comparable with corundum in hardness and can only be polished and finished with abrasives of superior hardness such as cubic boron nitride and diamond powder, wheels, and compounds.
In its most basic form, tungsten carbide is a fine gray powder, but it can be pressed and formed into shapes for widely use in industrial machinery, cutting tools, abrasives, armor-piercing rounds, other tools and instruments, jewelry and many other applications.
Description of Tungsten Carbide(cemented carbide) Strips/Sheets:
Tungsten carbide strips with the characters of high hardness, high strength and toughness, good wear resistance, heat resistance, corrosion resistance and a series of excellent performance, especially high hardness and wear resistance of it, even at a temperature of 500 degrees also remained same, at 1000 degrees still keeps the high hardness.
